About Erie

Erie, Pennsylvania was founded in the 1800s on the edge of Lake Erie, rooting this city in a strong maritime history that is still a big part of Erie today. As Pennsylvania’s fourth largest city, Erie offers fun for everyone, on the water and off. Erie is just a short drive from Pittsburgh, Cleveland, and Buffalo, giving visitors even greater access to places to visit and sites to see. The Erie International Airport is only minutes from downtown, allowing quick travel across the United States, as well as internationally.

With its position on the Great Lakes, Erie offers its visitors both the natural beauty and access to the great outdoors that come with a small town, coupled with all the diversity and urban amenities of a city. Here you’ll find varied dining options to suit any palette, locally-owned and big-brand shopping opportunities (not to mention all clothing and shoes purchases are tax-free!), and enough festivals and events to enrich and entertain any crowd, at any time of the year.
